Richly carved and gilded wood sconce console with brown tortoiseshell, copper and pewter marquetry top supported by two female terms framing a numeral, the base presenting a shell and a garland of flowers. Louis XIV period Height 39 cm (Accents and restorations) This console evokes late 17th-century ornamentalists such as Oppenordt. Its architectural design and the various techniques used - carved and gilded wood, tortoiseshell and metal marquetry - can be compared with certain pieces attributed to Pierre Gole.
