Chased ormolu tripod pedestal table with neo-Moorish décor, the round top with openwork scalloped gallery and the central shaft adorned with brown onyx. Circa 1870, attributed to Eugène Cornu (1827 - 1875) Height 77.5 cm - Diam. 52 cm The sculptor Eugène Cornu (1827-1875), was a draughtsman and works manager for the Tahan company. From 1858 onwards, in close collaboration with the Compagnie des Marbres Onyx d'Algérie, they created highly luxurious decorative works combining onyx and bronze. Around 1873, Eugène Cornu became director of the company, which was renamed Société des Onyx d'Algérie E. Cornu et Cie.
