NICOLAS II, Emperor of Russia (1868-1918). Rare and beautiful set of 30 small old photographs B&W, taken by Countess Zénaïde Mengden (1878-1950), maid of honor to Empress Maria Feodorovna. They depict Emperor Nicholas II and his family in an intimate setting, notably aboard the imperial yacht, the Standart, during summer stopovers in the Finnish fjords. In these rare shots, which have never been published, we can see the emperor Nicholas II playing on a swing with his daughter Grand Duchess Anastasia and officers, the imperial family leaving a tennis court, Grand Duchess Anastasia dancing with sailors, the grand duchesses opening a dance, Emperor Nicholas II with his daughters, Empress Maria Feodorovna chatting with an officer, the arrival of the longboat with the grand duchesses on board, views of the Standart taken from the ship, view of the longboats, Tsarevich Alexis aboard a longboat with sailor Derevenko, the Emperor talking with an officer, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna with her eldest daughter Grand Duchess Olga. Vintage silver print, circa 1910/1914. Small folds, but overall good condition. H. 5.5 cm - W. 8 cm.
