B&W, mounted on a cardboard board, taken by Countess Zénaïde Mengden (1878-1950), maid of honor to Empress Maria Feodorovna. Representing members of the Russian imperial family under house arrest at Dulber Palace, the summer residence of Grand Duke
Peter Nicolaievicth of Russia in the Crimea. They were the only members of the imperial family to narrowly escape the Bolsheviks, managing to escape in April 1919 aboard the battleship HMS Marlborough, sent by King George V of Great Britain at the urging of his mother, Queen Alexandra, the Tsar's sister.
