HISTORICAL SOUVENIRS HAVING BELONGED TO EMPRESS JOSEPHINE (1763-1814) AND EMPEROR NAPOLEON I (1769-1821). Modern gilded wood frame containing: a floral lace flounce embroidered on tulle, inscribed in English as having belonged to Empress Josephine: "Lace of Empress Josephine". A fragment of cord from one of Emperor Napoleon's carriages, held by a label bearing the English inscription: "From Napoleon's carriage. 1818. Sent to me by Lady Sandford, Augt 29th 1849. Flora de Burgh Molton". A parrot feather held by a label bearing the English inscription: "Feather from the Macao of the Empress Joséphine. Brought from Malmaison by Mrs Etton, april 1827". The set is presented on a white sheet of paper with a filigree portrait of Napoleon in profile, wearing his headdress like a Caesar, surrounded by the inscription Napoléon Empresse et Roi d'Italie and annotated with the inscription "Flora de Burgh, Augt 29th 1849". Freckles and stains, but good overall condition. H. 34.5 cm - L. 27 cm
