BONZANIGO Giuseppe-Maria (1745-1820). - Lot 194
BONZANIGO Giuseppe-Maria (1745-1820). Memorial to soldiers who died for their country. Magnificent round snuffbox in tortoiseshell, decorated under glass with a finely carved scene in several types of wood, representing a mausoleum at the foot of which appears a portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte, in a silver-ringed frame. On the reverse appears the inscription printed on fabric: This bas-relief is dedicated to the memory of soldiers who died during the present war fighting for public felicity. History engraves their names on the shield of valor. The love of country seated at the foot of the mausoleum presents the portrait of the first consul Bonaparte and is crowned by liberty, the laurel and harp designate glory and the poetry that celebrates it. Time wear and minor accidents, but good overall condition, wear to frame. H. 2.8 cm - Diam. 8.5 cm.
