FAUTEUIL PROVENANT DU CHATEAU DE NEUILLY Based on a model by - Lot 190
FAUTEUIL PROVENANT DU CHATEAU DE NEUILLY Based on a model by Alphonse Jacob Desmalter, circa 1804- 1815. In molded and carved varnished mahogany, turned front legs. Saber-shaped back legs. Plain square belt, basket-handle front. The armrests are turned into balusters decorated with scrolls, and the back is topped by a sculpted double scroll motif with lotus flower motifs on the sides. This chair was probably part of the furnishings of the Château de Neuilly for Prince Joachim Murat (1767-1815), who acquired it on March 4, 1804. On his departure for Naples in 1808, the prince ceded the furnished Château de Neuilly to the Crown. On his return from emigration, the Duc d'Orléans, future King Louis-Philippe, bought Neuilly furnished in 1818. Slight age wear, but good overall condition. Iron mark: L.P. (roi Louis-Philippe), circa 1830 and N. (Neuilly) under crown, n°75 - N°145 - N°8496. H. 91 cm - W. 58 cm - D. 50 cm. Reference: see a similar model in the Palais des Tuilerie, inventory no. GMT-1703-000.
