ENDER Johann Nepomuk(1793-1854). Portrait of Princess Louise d'Artois, Duchess of Parma (1819-1864). Graphite drawing enhanced with watercolor, signed by the artist lower right "Jon Ender" and dated "1847". Preserved under glass in its travel case with integrated easel stand, entirely sheathed in green leather and stamped on the reverse with the arms of the Count of Chambord, representing the three gold fleurs-de-lis surrounded by the collar of the Order of Saint-Michel and the collar of the Order of the Holy Spirit surmounted by the royal crown of France. Made by Berthet & Peret in Paris. Accident to the glass, age-related wear, but overall good condition. H. 28 cm - L. 21.5 cm. History: This life portrait depicts the princess two years after her marriage to Prince Charles III de Bourbon-Parme, Duke of Parma. In this portrait, the young princess wears the two strands of pearls and the famous pear-shaped pearl belonging to Queen Marie-Antoinette, from her daughter, the Duchess of Angoulême, sold in 2018 at Sotheby's. This portrait can be compared with a version signed by the artist, but undated, sold at Coutau-Bégarie on May 7, 2021 under no. 186.
