RZEWUSKI Alex-Ceslas (1893-1983). Portrait of Lady Lya Abdy (1897-1992). Drypoint enhanced with color and white chalk on Japanese paper, signed lower left in graphite by the artist. Plate X from the album published by Jacquelin from an edition numbered to 10 copies, Paris, 1925. Slight folds on the edges, but good overall condition. H.: 36 cm - W.: 28 cm Reference: This work and the one shown here were published by Jacquelin during the exhibition organized by the artist at the Galerie Jean Charpentier in Paris from April 1 to 15, 1925. Book: A biography of Alex-Ceslas Rzewuski, written by David Gaillardon, will be published in 2019 by Editions Lacurne. History: Lady Abdy was a Russian-born actress, born Iya Grigorievna de Gay, famous for her beauty, she was the muse of jeweler Louis Cartier and one of Jean Cocteau's muses. In 1923, she married Sir Robert Abdy (1896-1976).
