RZEWUSKI Alex-Ceslas (1893-1983). Portrait of Princess Léon Radziwill, née Dolorès (Dolly) Radziwill (1886-1966). Drypoint enhanced with color and white chalk on Japanese paper. Slight folds at edges, but overall good condition. Plate published by Jacquelin from an edition of one hundred copies, Paris, 1925. H. 28 cm - W. 36 cm Reference: This work and the one shown here were published by Jacquelin during the exhibition organized by the artist at the Galerie Jean Charpentier in Paris from April 1 to 15, 1925. Book: A biography of Alex-Ceslas Rzewuski, written by David Gaillardon, will be published in 2019 by Editions Lacurne. History: Princess Dolores was first married to Prince Stanislas Radziwill (1880-1920), his cousin who died in the Russo-Polish war; she then married another of her cousins, Prince Léon (1880-1927), "Loche", Radziwill, a friend of Marcel Proust, was one of the models for the character of Robert de Saint-Loup in À la Recherche du temps perdu. On his death, she married Danish painter and decorator Mogens Twede (1897-1977).
