GOUNOD, Charles (1818-1893). Original photographic portrait. Vintage black and white print. S.d. 20 x 12.6 cm. Fine three-quarter bust portrait of the composer. Mounted on cardboard, printed with the photographer's name "Charles Chambon - Bordeaux". Handsome autograph letter signed at the head of the portrait, in black ink: "À mes bons et chers amis Adrien Sourget. Ch. Gounod". Adrien Sourget (1823-1907), a public figure with a passion for music, was then President of the Société Sainte-Cécile. He organized numerous concerts and musical evenings, both at home and in elegant Bordeaux circles.
