Virgin Mary crushing the snake, embroidery, mid-19th century, applied on cream moiré gros de Tours, the garment with subtle drapery, embroidered in half-round bosse in filé and gold cordonnet in couchure and embossing enhanced with canetille and rhinestones. The clouds and snake embroidered in gold and silver with the same virtuosity, the face painted, the medallion embroidered in polychrome silk and gold, (small accidents, oxidized parts), 93 x 74 cm. Provenance: Former collection of Monseigneur Challiol, Bishop of Rodez (1872-1948).
