CHINE, XVIIIe siècle A rare and important grey jade covered vase The vase of baluster form with flattened profile resting on a small foot, including on each side an auspicious inscription 長夀尊 "cháng shòu zūn" in slight relief, the neck is flanked by two handles taking the form of elephant heads each holding movable rings. The vase rests on a base richly carved in high relief of a rock above the foaming waves on which four Immortals move. On one side, Li Tie Guai holding his gourd from which a dragon is emerging, and a Zhongli Quan holding a lotus leaf on one side. On the other side are Liu Hai with his three-legged toad and Lu Dongbin holding a fly swatter. The stone has gray tones with white inclusions in places. Total height : 24,2 cm Width : 17,6 cm Depth : 6 cm The grip of the lid is missing. Provenance : -Old collection of Vice-Admiral Edgar Eugène Humann (1838-1914), chief of staff of the Navy who served in the China China seas. -By descent.
