A Japanese porcelain pot-pourri enamelled in cracked grey with flowers from the 18th century, the gilt bronze frame decorated with openwork friezes on the rim, a dolphin grip on the lid and two satyrs' heads handles, the base formed by four feet around a leafy base.

The inventory after death of Augustin Blondel de Gagny realized from July 27, 1776 in Paris in his Hotel of the place Louis Le Grand mentions under the number 489 (A. N., M.C., ET/LVII/529) : " two pots-pourris of old truitée porcelain and belly of hind trimmed of gilded bronze ".
In his dictionnaire pittoresque Hébert publishes in 1766 a description of the hotel Blondel de Gagny where appears in "a second room furnished in crimson damask, between two marquetry chests of drawers with gilded copper ornaments made by Boulle, ... On both sides two pots-pourris of old light yellow porcelain. Augustin Blondel de Gagny, born in March 1695 and died on July 9, 1776 in Paris, was one of the greatest French art lovers and collectors of the 18th century. His prestigious collection of master paintings, objets d'art and furniture was dispersed at his death. A part of his paintings and sculptures are kept in the collections of the greatest European museums such as the Louvre Museum in Paris or the Wallace Collection in London.
At the Blondel de Gagny sale, this potpourri was sold among the porcelain truitées under lot 907: "Two pots-pourris of similar porcelain with this one above [belly of hind], with drawings blue, green and gold, furnished each one with a foot, throat, handle, and a dolphin on the lid, the whole of gilded bronze."
