ROUSSEAU Jean-Jacques Botany... Paris, Delachaussée et Garnery, 1805. Large in-folio, 35 x 53cm, X +124 pp, [65] plates, first third of the nineteenth century binding with green long-grained morocco spine decorated with gilt faux-nerfs and fleurons, entirely untrimmed. Superb suite of 65 plates after Redouté, finely engraved, printed in colors. One of the "few copies before the letter" (Explanation of the plates) without the legends. A very fresh and beautiful copy with all margins. The finials of the spine take up the drawing of the roussœa simplex, -the rousseaceae of Mauritius- "plant dedicated to J.
