Paris, Denné le Jeune et Perlet, 1806. 2 vols. large in-folio, 32,5 x 50,5cm, [2] ff, II +154 pp. 56 pl. of which 2 folded & [2] ff, II +134 pp., [1]f., 58 plates (numbered 57), English binding of the second half of the 19th century in parma chagrin, gilt fillets and wide lace on the boards, spine ribbed and entirely decorated with gilt designs, triple gilt fillet on the edges, triple gilt fillet inside, gilt edges. First edition of this magnificent work illustrated with 114 superb plates by Jacques Barraband printed in colors with a doll and sometimes enhanced, finely engraved by Pérée or Grémillier. A very nice and fresh copy, complete with the errata leaf. Some plates slightly trimmed by the binder's knife. Freckles on the text leaves of the last quarter of the second volume. Some serpents uniformly browned. Spines faded. Bindings slightly rubbed.
