Nuremberg, Johann Josef Fleischmann, Christian de Launoy (volumesIII andIV, 1757-1760), heirs of Christian de Launoy (volumeV, 1765), 1750-1773. 6 vol. in-folio, 23,5 x 35,5cm, contemporary binding in spotted tan calf, spines decorated with gilded motifs. Bilingual Latin-German edition of this herbarium for the use of physicians and herbalists, written and drawn by the Englishwoman Elizabeth Blackwell (c.1700-1758). In this edition, the beautiful engraved illustration, redrawn by Nicolaus Friedrich Eisenberger (1707-1771), painter to the Duke of Saxe-Hildburghausen, includes 6 watercolored title-frontispieces heightened in gold and 615 watercolored plates of plants and fruits. A fine copy from the library of Erazm Majewski (1858-1922), a Polish archaeologist and biologist. Library stamps on the verso of each plate. One of the two title leaves of volumeVI is missing. Staining to the corner of the leaves of volumeIII and to the top of the leaves of volumeIV. Stamps scratched on the titles. Small mending in the margin of a title of volumeIV.
