DUMORTOUS Pierre History of the conquests of Louis XV... Paris, De Lormel, 1759. In-folio, 28 x 43cm, 2 ff, VI +172 pp. (misquoted 182), frontispiece and 41 plates, contemporary binding in red morocco, angular fleur-de-lys and arms in the center, gilt on the boards, triple gilt fillet on the boards, spine decorated with gilt fleur-de-lys, gilt edges. First edition. The beautiful copper-engraved illustration includes a frontispiece drawn by François Boucher, 41 plates (14 double-page maps and 27 views of battles, one of which is double-page), a title vignette with the coat of arms of France (repeated in fine), 6 headbands and 5 endpapers. These figures are drawn by C. Eisen, A. Benoît and L. Boquet and engraved by L. Lempereur and Pasquier. A fine copy in morocco with the arms of Queen Marie Leczinska, wife of Louis XV (OHR 2507, iron not listed). Covers and corners slightly rubbed. Cohen 337.
