LITURGICAL SHROUD. Russian work, early 19th century Large piece of red silk velvet fabric, decorated in the center with a representation of the burial of Christ, representing him lying with his hands crossed on his chest, painted on canvas, surrounded by seven phrases from the Bible, these are the words of the tropary of St. Joseph (sung during Good Friday and the morning of Holy Saturday), embroidered with gold thread and framed by a frieze of floral and foliage, also embroidered with gold thread and decorated at each corner of a head representing St. Joseph painted on copper plate.
