YELLOW GOLD PENDANT MEDALLION. Attributed to Fabergé, probably by Auguste Holmström, Saint Petersburg, 1901. Triangular in shape with a central decoration of a translucent pink enameled plate on a guilloche background of zenith rays applied with the number X set with diamonds surrounded by a garland of laurel leaves held by a small diamond, the main border is decorated with a line of diamonds surmounted by a bow also in diamonds and adorned with a fine pearl at each corner. On the reverse side is an engraved dedication bearing the date: "1891 - April 24 - 1901", surrounded by the first names: Vasili (1892-1971), Barbara (1893-1987), Ekaterina (1894-1965), Maria (1895-1944), Alexander (1897-1946) and Elena (1899-1975), children of the prince and princess Vasili Kotchoubey, two children will then come to be born who do not appear on this dedication, princes Nicolas (1903-1984 and George (1905- 1919). The medallion can open in two parts allowing to contain under glass two photographic portraits. With transformation system to be mounted in brooch, we join the original diamond clasp. Slight wear of time, small lack to the system of attachment of the clasp, but very good overall condition. No apparent hallmarks. H.: 4,5 cm - L.: 3,5 cm. Total gross weight: 30 g. Provenance : this jewel was offered by Prince Vasili Petrovitch Kotchoubey (1868-1940) to his wife Barbaba Vassilevna born princess Kotchoubey his cousin (1869-1948) on the occasion of their 10th wedding anniversary celebrated on April 28, 1901. This pendant was kept since then in the direct descent of the couple. Reference: in Fabergé's creations, several models of jewelry, such as brooches, pendants and chatelaines, are very similar in quality and workmanship to our pendant, which confirms despite the absence of hallmarks, something quite rare, that it is indeed a creation marketed by Fabergé. See in particular in reference in the collection Artie and Dorothy McFerrin, illustrated in the book: "Fabergé The Macferrin Collection", 2016, a bronco on page 130, under the n° 392, having belonged to the grand duchess Maria Pavlovna; a brooch on page 82, under No. 222 and a chatelaine on page 78, under No. 391. Also in the book "Fabergé" by Géza von Habsburg, published by Hirmer, 1987, a brooch of the same type can be seen on page 140 under No. 103 and on page 141 under No. 106 another brooch model that belonged to Queen Alexandra of Great Britain. Alexandra of Great Britain; also in the book "Fabergé - Cartier" by Géza von Habsburg, Hirmer, 2003, we can compare our pendant with two other brooches on page 274, under No. 414 and No. 415.
