SILVER SNUFFBOX. - Lot 363
SILVER SNUFFBOX. By KOMARNITSKY, Moscow, circa 1850. Of cylindrical form, decorated on one side with a vermeil coin with the effigy of the emperor Paul I signed Carl Alexander Leberecht (1749-1827), commemorative souvenir of the coronation of the emperor undated [1796], on which appears on the reverse side the cross of the order of St. George, in a nielloed frame. On the back of this snuffbox is represented a view of the sculpture of Falconet representing Peter the Great on horseback built in St. Petersburg in silver niello. Gold interior. Slight wear from the time, small lacks, but good general condition. Hallmark : 56, Moscow, circa 1850 Goldsmith's hallmarks: G. K. (probably G. Komarnitsky), active from the 18th to the 19th century. H. 2 cm - Diameter : 9,5 cm. Weight : 158 g.
