Panel, pulled threads rebrodé, Margaret Simeon collection, Italy, 17th or 18th century. Linen colored twine with pulled threads and embroidered in two shades of cream and ochre, cream and indigo bangs at the bottom. Perugia. Composition with three horizontal bands of heraldic motifs, at the top and bottom a frieze with three motifs in repetition: a woman with raised arms surrounded by two lions facing each other, and the eagle with two crowned heads. In the center, a large frieze cut with trapezoidal cartouches, three large flowers and two birds, and two stags in symmetry, flowers and small animals. Dim. 3,70 m x 62 cm (good condition, some stains) Provenance : Phillips sale, London, March 18, 1992, Margaret Simeon Collection.
