Beautiful lace handkerchief, Belgium, late nineteenth century. A bobbin lace frame of a rare finesse of realization, the motifs applied or inlaid in a fine mechanical tulle. Composition of superb palms cut and scrolling alternating with medallions in a crown of flowers held by a ribbon tied to effect of shading, the cartridges so formed decorated with a network of finely braided mesh type drochel, sprays of fine foliage and flowers with pearl hearts darting in application on the tulle and central linen, elegant monogram A to the spindles and the needle in a corner. (good condition, a small freckle on one side)
