Lace in Point de France, needlepoint, late 17th century. A border and a document in Point de France of a beautiful finesse of realization: The border with graceful decoration of flexible and fine branches decorated with delicate foliage and a multitude of small fruits and flowers aerated with various stitches, delicate embroidery in overthickness, the low border with small festoons and florets decorated with very fine embroidery. Ivory linen, later consolidation. Dim. 3 m x 8 cm (good condition, rare orange spots or very discreet small restorations) Cf. "Lace a History" Mrs. Santina M. Levey Fig. 228. A 19th century cut collar in a Point de France ruffle of the same period.
