MUSIC MANUSCRIPT - Lot 42
MUSIC MANUSCRIPT Collection of airs, with guitar accompaniment Circa 1750. Title in gilt letters and red and blue ink, decorated and framed with gilt and bluish designs. 251 pp. including 11 pp. of table and [2] pp. with floral framing, one having received a "Air tendre", the other having remained blank. Small in-4 Italian format, full morocco, boards framed with fillets and scrolls, stamped in the center of a leafy and flowery branch ended by a fabric bow, smooth spine decorated, title page, decorated covers and edges, blue tabis endpapers. Very charming collection of music entirely handwritten, decorated by hand with gold and two colors. 117 tunes for guitar with notated music, chorus and verses. Each page has been given a blue and gold floral frame, as well as a matching lettering. The braces that link the staves are also gilded. These gallant airs sometimes reinterpret famous tunes such as A vous dirais-je maman: "Je rougis & par malheur / un soupir trahit mon cœur [...] Hélas ! Maman, un faux pas / me fait tomber dans ses bras"!
