It rests on four bronze lions' legs, the body of the rectangular inkwell partly hollowed out to form a penholder is decorated with a rhyton with a chimeric lion's head framed by two Athenian cups with winged lion's head and hock. Attributed to Pierre-Philippe THOMIRE (1751 - 1843). H. : 22,5 cm, W. : 40,5 cm ; D. : 22,5 cm Epoque Empire. (Small chips and a small restoration to the marble) The Antique Green or Egyptian Green is a precious serpentine breccia used since antiquity.
