Pair of torches in chased, patinated and gilded bronze, the - Lot 299
Pair of torches in chased, patinated and gilded bronze, the godronné shaft with flowered ring is surmounted by three busts of women leaning, the circular base decorated with frieze of roses of flowered ribbons. H. : 30 cm Epoque Empire. (small wear of gilding) Claude GALLE delivers several models surmounted by busts of women for the imperial furniture guard. There are many variants with busts of Diana or Egyptian, it is interesting to note here that the busts of women are not represented in the antique but on the contrary in outfits in the fashion of the Empire with crown of flowers, necklace and earrings of pearls and bodice decorated with lace.
