Rare and exceptional Tabriz Soof in silk brocaded with golden threads (North-West of Persia) around 1880. Dimensions 317 x 200 cm Prayer-shaped carpet. Slight natural oxidations. Good general condition. Gold field brocaded with golden threads and silk on a silk foundation. Density of approximately 10000 to 11000 knots per dm2. Field with crenellated mihrab (the Door of Heaven) decorated with a central tree with palmettes and floral bulbs in polychromy in silk. Four spandrels with bluish gray and ruby floral bulbs. Five borders of which the main one is embroidered with golden threads and inlaid cartouches of birds and garlands of flowers in the same tones as the central field.
