Circular enamel plate painted in grisaille with gold highlights representing Danae; signed and dated lower right P.Voillemin 1901; brown counterfoil with inscription A mon Caporal Ganne. PSDD; in a chased and gilt bronze frame. Paris, Paul-Jules Voillemin (active, 1891-1907), 1891 D. 10.2 cm (slight accidents at the edge) Théophile Soyer, son of Paul Soyer, trained under Yvon and Levasseur. He made his debut at the 1870 Salon with an enamel copy of a work by "Le Barbier Aîné". He then exhibited regularly from 1875 to 1882. In 1889 he won a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition. After his marriage to Léa Dejoux, nicknamed Lucie, a student of Lamunière, he shared the management of the company with her.
