MANUSCRIT - BONNET, Louis - Panegyric of the blessed Marguer - Lot 135
MANUSCRIT - BONNET, Louis - Panegyric of the blessed Marguerite de Veyny d'Arbouse. S.l.n.d. (XIXth c.) 109 ff. handwritten. In-12 full red chagrin, quintuple cold fillet, triple gilt fillet, large cold surround, interior roulette, spine decorated with caissons. Small incident on the inside cover, not visible externally, small scar at the bottom of the upper hinge. Very legible manuscript, with some passages from a second hand relating the life of Marguerite de Veyny d'arbouse. Considered in the 17th century as one of the major figures of the Benedictine renewal, Marguerite d'Arbouze was rediscovered in the 20th century by Bremond, before being the object of attention of historians of the female agents of the Catholic Reformation. Having wanted to return to the purest rule of Saint Benedict, having made a sincere friendship with Anne of Austria, having refused to exercise an abbatiate for life, Marguerite, known as Saint Gertrude, profoundly renewed the feminine commitment to blessing.
