History: Ernest d'Hervilly (1839-1911), French journalist, writer and playwright, met Victor Hugo in 1871 and became a regular in his family circle, which explains his entry in 1872 to the newspaper Le Rappel located at 18 rue de Valois in Paris, where he held for ten years, a column under the pseudonym "Un Passant". This French daily newspaper was published from May 1869 to the end of the Second Empire. The following years, Ernest d'Hervilly continued to write for several magazines such as La Renaissance Artistique et Littéraire, La République des Lettres, La lune Rousse... He died in November 1911 at the age of 72.
