COMMITTEE OF THE MONUMENT TO THE MEMORY OF VICTOR HUGO - 1885. P.A.S.: "Alfred Etiévant", July 21, 1885, countersigned by Jacques Madeleine (1859-1941) and Paul Meurice (1818-1905), in-4°, 3 pages: "I have the honor of bringing to your attention the agenda adopted by the Committee of the Monument to Victor Hugo in its meeting of July 21, 1885. The Committee of the Monument of Victor Hugo receives communication of the following deliberations taken by the Committee of the Statue: ...". Attached is a L.A.S. from Émile Blémont, French poet and playwright (1839-1927), addressed to Alfred Etiévant, Wednesday evening (undated), in-4°, 2 pages: "(...) The funds of the two committees having to be joined together in order to be devoted to the Monument of Hugo, the two committees would agree on what concerns the erection of the monument. There would thus be fusion, if not confusion, between the two committees. The solution that I had imagined and indicated thus, unexpectedly, did not seem practical to the assistance...". Attached is a L.A.S. from Paul Meurice (1818-1905), French novelist and playwright, founder of the Victor Hugo Museum and executor of Victor Hugo's will, undated. Good condition. See illustration on page 106. This is the minutes of the general meeting and the meeting of the two bank accounts for the statue of Victor Hugo.
