DRAWING BOOK OF AN ARTIST OF THE COURT OF THE SECOND EMPIRE. Of rectangular form, leather binding, red edges decorated with golden stars, containing 89 drawings, sketches and studies in graphite, pen and watercolor, representing the Empress Eugenie in various circumstances, a bust of Anne de Bretagne as the Empress Eugenie, several studies of the Imperial Prince and the ladies of the Tuileries court, a sculpture of Thalie, studies of angels, muses, flags, banners fluttering in the wind, horses, animals and dromedaries, etc. Some of the drawings have handwritten annotations on various pages and are dated April 19 and 22, 1865. This work by its style is close to Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875) or Eugène Lami (1800-1890). Time wear to the binding, but overall good condition. Notebook: L. : 13 cm - W. : 8,5 cm.
