Moses Saved from the Waters and Jael and Sissera, pair of Marianna Elmo thread-glued paintings, Italy, Lecce, 1690, polychrome silk threads and metallic threads glued to wax on a cardboard ground, the fleshings are painted in tempera on silk satin. Each of the paintings signed on the bottom Mariana Elmo, Lecce, 1690. The episodes of the Old Testament are mentioned on the back by an ancient handwritten inscription. In the second painting, a tent with clever draperies houses a table on which are placed a ewer and a cup evoking the water offered to Sissera, commander of the King of Canaan's army, by Jael who lured him by offering him hospitality and then murdered him, 26 x 35 cm.
