HALLYDAY JOHNNY (1943/2017): Original plaster cast of Johnny - Lot 249
HALLYDAY JOHNNY (1943/2017): Original plaster cast of Johnny Hallyday's face print. Work realized from the print of the face of the artist on November 12, 1963 by the sculptor JEAN-PIERRE MAURY (1932-2021) at the home of the singer, place Winston Churchill in Neuilly-sur-Seine and on the occasion of the edition of a mask of Mardi Gras representing the artist and marketed in January 1964. Born in Paris on January 22, 1932, Jean-Pierre Maury is the last of the artists Moulder-Figurists. Friend of Jacques Prévert, in the post-war period, the "Trente Glorieuses", in his workshop of the cabaret Le Port du Salut in Paris, he molds the whole Paris of the night world, including many celebrities. Seduced by the man and the artist, many personalities lend themselves to this ritual. Thus Charles Aznavour, Yves Montand, Johnny Hallyday, Sylvie Vartan, Mick Micheyl, Claude François, Bobby Lapointe, Françoise Hardy, Pierre Perret, Darry Cowl, André Bourvil... and many others. He also works for many films such as The Longest Day or The Atlantic Wall. Maury then became the official moulder of Salvador Dali, then of César, from his period of enlargements. The latter said of him: "One has the impression that the plaster flows from his hands!" This plaster had been offered by the sculptor to a Parisian restaurant where the rocker often came to dine in the 60s. Only print of the artist's face. Collector's item.
