École française, XVIe siècle - Lot 69
École française, XVIe siècle Keystone or tondo of sculpted limestone vault representing a monk practicing lectio divina; the religious is seated, curled up on himself near the Child Jesus in his manger, a book placed on his knees. Diameter : 40 cm (some slight damages on the edge) Soclé The reading of the Word is for a religious an important moment of his day, it is there that he seeks to nourish this inner dialogue with God. This element of architecture is an invitation to meditate on the Word of God which leads in this case to the contemplation of the mystery of the Incarnation signified by the manger of the crib.
