The Caught Birds, ca. 1850-1860 Folded fan, the gouache-painted paper sheet of a gathering of young people in a country setting, in the taste of the 18th century. They are amused to see birds caught in nets. Reverse side in skin painted with three bunches of flowers among golden scrolls. White mother-of-pearl mounting pierced, engraved and gilded with foliage and flowers. Gilded metal hanger and tassel of trimmings. H.t. 27 cm-H.f. 13,3 cm (cuts, stains, accidents, restorations) In a box covered with beige satin bearing under the lid the address of the fan maker Rodien in Paris.
