The presentation of the children and the letter carrier, circa 1760 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English, and painted with gouache of a palace interior where two children are presented to a figure under a canopy. Reverse: bouquets of flowers and golden scrolls frame a shepherdess. Fine ivory mount* pierced, cut, engraved and gilded with a rare decoration of a letter carrier delivering his mail to a small group. He is holding a letter in one hand and a "clapper" in the other to signal his presence. H.t. 26,5 cm-H.f. 11,8 cm (wear, restorations)
