ALEXANDRINSKY SERVICE FOR THE TABLE OF TSAR NICOLAS II. Imperial Manufacture, St. Petersburg, 1894-1917. Set of 6 hard porcelain dinner plates, with scalloped edge, white background, framed by a border decorated with three polychrome cartouches representing scenes of birds decorated with garlands of flowers on a blue background. Good condition. Green marks on the reverse: N II (Nicolas), under imperial crown, dated 1899, 1900, 1901. Diameter: 25 cm. History: The Alexandrinsky service was commissioned by the empress Alexandra Feodorovna in 1899 for the Winter Palace. The service, named in honour of the empress, consisted of nearly 1,300 pieces and was inspired by a Sevres service commissioned for the storage room. Reference: See the book by N.
