GOLDEN CIGARETTE CASE. By ULYANSKY, St. Petersburg, before 1896. Of rectangular and curved form, rounded on the corners with chased decoration of crossed flutes in two gold colors, the opening is set with a cabochon sapphire, bears inside a facsimile engraved inscription in the hand of the grand duchess Xenia Alexandrovna : "From Xenia, Peterhof 1899", with place for tinder and matches. Time wear, but overall good condition. Title mark: 56, St. Petersburg, before 1896. Goldsmith's marks: Yuda Velkovitch Ulyansky, active from 1895 to 1909. L. : 9,5 cm - W. : 6,5 cm - D. 1,5 cm. Weight : 175 g. Provenance : present offered by the Grand-Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna (1875-1960) to her husband, the Grand-Duke Alexander Mikhaïlovitch (1866-1933) in 1899 on the occasion of their 5th wedding anniversary. Passed on by inheritance to their daughter, Princess Irina Youssoupoff, then kept by direct descent
