Gold medallion 725th, octagonal shape, the face finely chiseled with a decoration of a bouquet of flowers in its center, the reverse side engraved with the first name Emily in Gothic letters under a countess crown, the two sides surrounded by foliage. The inside left of the medallion decorated with a miniature on ivory depicting a young woman, her hair up and wearing a crown of braids, a medallion around her neck. On the right, an engraved inscription: "Emily Georgiana the beloved wife of George William Earl of Winchilsea & Nottingham Wenesday 15 Feb. 1837". Victorian period. Chased bezel. Gross weight: 52.32 g Emily Georgiana Bagot (1809-1848) married on February 15, 1837 George William Finch-Hatton (1791-1858), 10th Earl of Winchilsea and 5th Earl of Nottingham. He was a British politician, known for his duel against Arthur Wellesley, then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Duke of Wellington, in 1829. A war memorial in the effigy of the Countess, made by Lawrence Macdonald in 1850, is kept in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
