Late 18th century Sèvres porcelain fruit plate About 1796, S - Lot 10
Late 18th century Sèvres porcelain fruit plate About 1796, Sèvres and RF blue marks, painter's mark V for Madame Weydinger With polychrome decoration in the center of a semi of flowering branches, the wing of a garland of pink flowers between two broad blue nets with gold frieze of palmettes, some wear D. : 20,7 cm. Notes : This plate is decorated according to the model n.155 still kept in the archives of Sèvres-Cité de la Céramique. For another model of large plate with the same decoration as this lot, see Christie's Paris, Charles-Otto Zieseniss Collection, December 6, 2001, lot 276. This example corresponds almost exactly to the model of dessert plate delivered in January 1796 (29 Nivôse, An IV) to Alvise Maria di Zuanne Querini, minister plenipotentiary of Venice in France. This service, together with a set of biscuits for the tableware, is now largely preserved in the collections of the Querini-Stampalia Foundation in Venice; for a commentary on this delivery, see Elisabetta da Carlo, Le porcellane dell'ambasciatore, Venice, 1998
