Dedication of Edmond Rostand, circa 1895 Folded fan, autograph, the double sheet in painted paper of flowers. Reverse side decorated with two autograph dedications in ink, borrowed from the play of Edmond Rostand: "les Romanesques". The first one by Edmond Rostand (1868-1918) : "Sylvette, we dream, Sylvette, let's speak low, / Let the noise of our voices not wake us up". Located and dated at "Luchon 8 August 1895". The other one by L. Le Bargy, actor of the Comédie française: "Love is born /We don't know why, when, how it must be born". Dated "August 8, 1895". Natural bamboo mounting, pierced and engraved. H.t. 24,2 cm-H.f. 14 cm (a broken strand) N.B. : during the summer of 1895, Edmond Rostand stayed at Luchon with his parents. The fan is accompanied by a handwritten document : "Fan sold for the benefit of the works of Madame Rostand, at a performance of the "Romanesques" in Luchon, August 1895. A verse of the Romanesques by Edmond Rostand / A verse of the Romanesques by Le Bargy".
