François Rivoire (1842-1919), Cattleya, circa 1890. Large folded fan, the leaf painted with large pink orchids. Signed lower left "Rivoire" for François Rivoire (1842-1919), flower painter and watercolorist born in Lyon. Pupil of Jean-Marie Régnier, he made his debut at the Salon in 1866. Dumb reverse, in skin. Mounting in pierced ivory*, sculpted, engraved with swans, flowers and leaves, enhanced in harmony with the leaf. The plumes are decorated with parrots. H.t. 35 cm-H.f. 23 cm (good condition)
