Billotey,Carnations and daisies, circa 1890 Large folded fan, the sky-blue dyed silk leaf painted with a spray of carnations and daisies in a vaporous effect. Signed on the right "Billotey". Dumb reverse. Pink stamp of the house of the Parisian fan maker "Duvelleroy". Mounting entirely in mother-of-pearl burgau, tinted pink. Important figure "RR" in gold under ducal crown on the plume. Twisted hoop and tassel of trimmings. H.t. 35,5 cm-H.f. 21,5 cm (small stains, cuts, restorations) In its original box figured "RR" under duke's crown, and bearing under the lid the address of the Parisian fan maker "Duvelleroy". (wear, missing) N.B. : the dyeing of the mother-of-pearl is a complex technical innovation developed in the 1870s by the workshops of Oise. Rare, expensive, it is not very common and disappears at the beginning of the 20th century.
