Shepherdesses Enjoying Themselves, ca. 1840 Folded fan, the double sheet of gouache painted paper of a harvest scene. Two shepherdesses in traditional costumes tease a sleeping shepherd by slipping a blade of grass under his nose. The costume of the characters evokes regional clothes, perhaps of Provence (Comtat Venaissin). Reverse: a couple bantering. Mounting in carved, engraved and gilded bone. H.t. 27 cm-H.f. 13,5 cm (restoration)
