Aeneas and Mentor, circa 1790-1800 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English and painted with gouache of the muse of the arts and Dido holding in one hand a cup and in the other a dagger. In the center, surrounded by two horns of plenty, a warrior in toga and helmet is addressing an old man leaning on an oar, perhaps Aeneas and Mentor? The reverse side painted with a large golden scroll and red flowers in the center. Ivory mount* finely pierced with foliage and engraved. The head is covered with a brown scale plate**. H.t. 27 cm-H.f. 16,3 cm (wear, restorations)
