The dome of the basilica, circa 1770-1780 Folded fan, known as the "Grand Tour", the double cabriole leaf painted with foliage and decorations inspired by the frescoes recently discovered in Pompeii and Herculaneum. In the center, in an oval cartel, a view of the city of Rome from a bridge overhanging the Tiber. In the background, St. Peter's Basilica dominates the roofs. Dumb reverse. Finely cut ivory* mount, engraved with flowers and pavilions. China, 18th century. H.t. 29 cm-H.f. 14 cm (wear, restorations)
