Latona and the Lycian peasants, ca. 1770-1780 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English, and painted with gouache of a rare subject: Latona, surrounded by her children Apollo and Diana, on an island. She metamorphoses from the gaze of the peasants who wanted to prevent her from drinking the river water. Ancient monuments painted in bistre on the sides, in medallions. Reverse: flowering branches. Mounting in carved, engraved and gilded bone with repeated vases and flowers. Metal clasp. H.t. 28,3 cm-H.f. 13,5 cm (wear, restorations)
