The Concert and Supper, ca. 1770-1780 Folded fan, the skin sheet lined with paper and painted with gouache of a rare view of the salons of a mansion on the occasion of a party. A couple on the left is conversing. He is trying to interest her in the musicians who play for them. She shows her disinterest by her nonchalant position. Servants place sherbets on a table on the right. Reverse: a fortune teller reads the palm of a shepherdess whose gaze goes towards a gallant hidden in a bush. Mounting in cut, carved, engraved and gilded ivory* of flowers and flute players and a couple in the center. H.t. 27,5 cm-H.f. 12,5 cm (good condition) N.B. : a fan with the same composition, with a blond tortoiseshell frame, is kept in the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
